Dieses Stück ist den philippinischen migrantischen Entertainer*innen und der diasporischen kreativen Community in Berlin gewidmet, den Queers und Drag Queens des Berliner Nachtlebens sowie meinen Eltern, Bong & Queenie.

With Bibingka, Alvin Collantes brings their own drag persona—named after a resilient Filipino rice cake—to the big stage and asks: who is being entertained, and at what cost? The dance solo, or at times a tender duet between artist and alter ego, delves into the emotional and physical labor of Filipino migrants working in service and entertainment industries in the so-called West.

In Bibingka, drag becomes a means of survival, joy turns into labor, and Alvin Collantes is both spectacle and medium. The piece moves through the complex entanglements of queerness and Catholic influence within the Filipino consciousness, while also examining the tension between kapwa—the idea of a shared identity—and Western individualism.

When the high heels come off—what remains?
